Welcome to Add Value Enterprise! My name is Melvin Calaway Jr. and I am the founder and CEO of Add Value Enterprise. I am a native of Oakland, California. I have over 12 years of dedicated service in the field of mental health. I am committed to creating meaningful change within my community by leveraging my personal and professional experiences. I have a Master’s in Social Work, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the challenges and trauma faced by individuals in need.
My journey in mental health began with a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact in my community. I am intimately familiar with the struggles faced by individuals living in inner city communities. I am a youthful offender with learning disabilities and a mental health diagnosis. I learned how to navigate the challenges of them and want to helps others do the same. I was fortunate to have a mentor in my formative years who instilled the value of seeking alignment with those who could add value to my life and to reciprocate that same value.
In the past, I have tirelessly dedicated myself to understanding the intricacies of the mental health system and advocating for the rights and well-being of melanated individuals. I am dedicated to understanding and addressing the dynamics of a system that repeatedly fails to sufficiently support our people, which fueled my deep-rooted commitment to breaking down barriers and reshaping the support systems available to our community.
Today, I stand as a beacon of support and empowerment for melanated individuals grappling with mental health challenges and reentry issues. Through my work, I strive to provide a platform for individuals to add value to each other, fostering a community where everyone’s voice is heard and respected.
